Timeline and custom calendar
Loreloom's timeline places your universe's history on its own calendar: your months, your weekdays, your eras, and even your world's astronomy. Other calendars can be linked to it, each with its equivalent dates.
Loreloom
A calendar that fits your world
- From 1 to 14 days per week, from 1 to 24 months of 1 to 60 days each.
- Named special days, and days outside the week (epagomenal months) placed anywhere in the year.
- Coloured eras, which can overlap.
- Up to 8 moons with their phases, 12 seasons and 8 suns, with sunrise and sunset calculated through the year.
- Custom cycles (tides, rotating festivals, alternating reigns…) made of steps of unequal length.
- Custom date formats, and template calendars to clone, including the Gregorian calendar.
Changes without breakage
The calendar editor shows a live preview. Before saving a change, it lists the dates already entered that would become invalid.
Several calendars for one world
- Alongside the main calendar, declare other systems: another plane, a planet, a neighbouring kingdom. Each one carries its own calendar, its own currency, or both.
- An anchor date and a duration ratio (say 3 days here for 7 over there) align each calendar with the main one; a fixed exchange rate links the currencies.
- Under a date in the timeline, the journals or an infobox, a line gives its equivalent in each linked calendar.
- A date can be entered in another system's calendar: Loreloom stores it in the main calendar.
- On a character sheet, an amount entered in a secondary currency shows its equivalent in the main currency.
Three views of the same history
- The timeline: centuries at a glance, eras as coloured bands, periods as bars that never overlap, and a minimap on desktop.
- The calendar: one month, day by day.
- The year: every day of the year, with special days highlighted.
Events and periods
- A one-off event, or a period with an end date; negative years are allowed.
- Links to the Compendium articles involved.
- Tags with emoji and colour, filters by tag and by context, quick search (Ctrl+K).
- For each day: the season, each moon's phase, each sun's rise and set, and the state of every cycle.
Secret events
An event attached to a context is only visible to authorised participants. Others see the context locked, without its content.
With the other modules
The same calendar dates Compendium infoboxes, journal entries and map pins. A manager can send a journal page or a planned event to the timeline.
Calendar limits
- No leap years, and 24-hour days.
- Astronomical cycles are strictly periodic.
- Deleting a month doesn't shift dates already entered: they need fixing by hand.
- When the duration ratio doesn't divide evenly, equivalent dates are rounded, and flagged as such.
